Job Overview

The AI/ML Intern will work with Bastian Solutions' R&D team in Boise, Idaho to help produce cutting-edge AI/ML systems to solve applications in the Autonomous Vehicle and Robotics domain. With a current team size of approximately 40 members, the Boise R&D team is composed of a group of industry-leading experts with cross-discipline skillsets and backgrounds. The AI/ML Intern will work alongside like-minded engineers in an Agile development environment and will have the opportunity to engage in every stage of the R&D process. This includes research, innovation, design, and prototype development to successfully bring new products to market.

The AI/ML Intern will work alongside a dedicated mentor on our AI/ML team to assist in development of our core AI framework, as well as conduct research into new applications. This position will have ample opportunity to learn from team members, as well as to have ownership of focused research projects and designs.

Job Functions
  • Research new domains and techniques applicable to our applications
  • Participate in team discussions on the latest state-of-the-art, bleeding-edge advances in AI, computer vision, and robotics
  • Work with team to apply research and demonstrate results on live systems
  • Participate in design reviews and code reviews
  • Engage in Agile development processes to plan sprints and team workloads
  • Follow GitFlow processes for robust version control

Travel Requirements
  • 5% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Solutions)

Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Solid understanding of software engineering practices
  • Machine Learning / Data Science / Deep Learning introductory level coursework
  • Comfortable with Linux (Ubuntu) environment and Bash terminal workflow
  • Experience with JuPyteR, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Pandas
  • Experience with Git version control tools
