For over seven decades, Mercy Medical Center Redding has been dedicated to delivering extensive healthcare services in the North State, offering acute care alongside a wide array of medical specialties.

The 267-bed facility provides essential medical services, including a Level II Trauma Center, specialized Cardiovascular Care, Stroke Care, Orthopedics, Neurological Surgery, Comprehensive Cancer Care, Maternity Care, and da Vinci Robotic Surgery.

As the exclusive provider of obstetrical services, it also houses the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Shasta County.

Additionally, the hospital's care network encompasses Mercy Home Health and Hospice, as well as Dignity Health Connected Living. Mercy Medical Center Redding is part of the Dignity Health system and is affiliated with St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff and Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta.

Responsibilities:

Position Summary:
The Patient Care Assistant is a caregiver who takes on responsibility and accountability for patient care during designated shifts.

The Patient Care Assistant will assist in delivering safe and therapeutic care for our patients under the supervision of Registered Nurses, Physician Assistants, Family Nurse Practitioners, and Physicians.

Collaboration with other healthcare team members will be integral to the multidisciplinary approach.

Please note that this position requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification after hiring.

This ongoing competency is mandated through internal resources; external RQI competency resources are not acceptable for compliance with CommonSpirit Health requirements.



Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Prior experience in an acute care setting is required (may be waived based on departmental operational needs)

Basic Cardiac Dysrhythmia knowledge is required

Current BLS Certification from the American Heart Association

Preferred

Qualifications:

Preference for previous experience as a Patient Care Assistant or Technician, with at least 6 months as a Monitor Tech or equivalent experience

Preference for two years of college education.
