Job Title: Operations Manager SE

American Prosthetic Components is seeking a seasoned leader to oversee daily operations, ensuring seamless production, quality control, and safety protocols. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a quality-first mentality, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate production, distribution, and daily shipments in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
  • Review production costs and product quality, making modifications as necessary.
  • Take a proactive approach to identifying potential production/quality problems on the plant floor.
  • Develop capacity strategies and implementation plans to support sales growth.
  • Continuously develop and improve metrics to support company objectives.
  • Support and assist in the development of job planning processes and schedules.
  • Support and assist strategies and plans for facility capacity to meet growth.
  • Support and assist facility and equipment maintenance programs.
  • Support contract review requirements.
  • Participate in annual planning and budget development processes.
  • Monitor all safety issues, identifying root causes and eliminating risks.
  • Fully versed in Document Control processes and procedures.
  • Apply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes.
  • Create, implement, update, and maintain work instructions, partnering with Engineering and other departments.
  • Interpret engineering drawings/blueprints and confer with management or engineering departments to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Work with EUMDR representatives to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Provide inspection activity for products throughout the production cycle.
  • Direct workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
  • Properly and accurately utilize measuring equipment.
  • Process non-conforming material, report data.
  • Investigate and adjust customer complaints (CAPA) regarding quality.
  • Review customer contracts (purchase orders, regulatory requirements, blueprints).
  • Lead in optimization of set-up cycle times and improvement of productivity standards by teaming with CNC machinists and set-up personnel.
  • Investigate, experiment, and implement processes to maximize productivity.
  • Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers.
  • Evaluate current processes, determine their effectiveness, identify opportunities, and recommend strategies for improvement.
  • Selection and development of tools and fixtures for improvements.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure quality of all purchased parts for company use.
  • Create and maintain an environment of continuous improvement by actively managing projects to improve overall quality.
  • Serve as project leader on project teams designated to resolve issues and implement solutions.
  • Mentor and train operations staff on lean principles. Advise management on training plans and matrices.
  • Proactive problem solve on the basis of statistical analysis of corrective actions.
  • Optimize layout for new product development projects in the plant.
  • Ensure all training is completed for all responsible employees and develop new training processes as needed.
  • Provide good feedback and promote good communication.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in supervisory or management role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of CNC experience with lathes and mills.
Mathematical Skills:
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Computer Skills:
  • Understanding of Microsoft Suite and Excel package knowledge and abilities.
  • Working with an ERP system is a plus.
