Job Summary

Kaiser Permanente nurses are guided by an integrated nursing model that prioritizes patient-centered care. As a Licensed Practical Nurse I (LPN I), you will practice nursing as defined by the Georgia Board of Nursing standards of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses and by organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines. Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or Physician, you will provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients and families to promote or restore health and to prevent illness and injury.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation and Documentation: Prepare patients for office visits by reviewing their history, collecting relevant clinical information, measuring vital signs, and documenting in the medical record.
  • POE and Care Gaps: Complete POE and address care gaps during the patient encounter.
  • Procedure Preparation: Prepare room and equipment for procedures and assist the practitioner as needed.
  • Interventions and Documentation: Initiate interventions and document response to treatment according to established workflows and guidelines.
  • Emergency Care: Participate in emergency care as directed by the practitioner or registered nurse.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients and provide preparation materials for diagnostic studies according to guidelines.
  • Scheduling and Communication: Schedule appointments for patients with lab, radiology, or specialty consultations as ordered by the practitioner.
  • Electronic Messaging: Monitor electronic messaging and emails related to patient or provider requests and manage the messages within scope of practice.
  • Quality Improvement: Participate in departmental or regional quality improvement activities and initiatives.
  • Patient Engagement: Engage patients, families, and caregivers in the coordination of care.
  • Concern Resolution: Resolve patient concerns promptly.
  • Training and Supervision: Provide departmental orientation and training of new team members on standard work, policies, and procedures.
  • Unlicensed Personnel Supervision: Participate in the supervision of unlicensed personnel in the delivery of patient care.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing (LPN/LVN) program.
  • License: Practical Nurse License (Georgia) required at hire.
  • Certification: Basic Life Support required at hire from American Heart Association.
  • Additional Requirements: Complete a Customer Service Assessment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum six (6) months of healthcare experience preferred.
  • Customer Service: Customer service aptitude demonstrated through Customer Service Assessment.
