Position Overview
Kaiser Permanente (KP) is dedicated to enhancing the practice of nursing through exceptional clinical and service delivery, professionalism, and leadership. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare teams and providers during patient interactions within the facility. This role involves managing patient flow, executing follow-up care as directed by providers, and assisting in patient education. Additionally, the LPN is responsible for documenting clinical information accurately in the medical records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations by reviewing their medical history, gathering current information, and taking vital signs, ensuring documentation adheres to established guidelines.
  • Address Care Gaps and coordinate appointments as necessary.
  • Confirm all current medications and prepare refill requests for provider approval.
  • Review and update patient allergies, smoking, and tobacco use history.
  • Administer interventions as prescribed by the healthcare provider (e.g., medications, dressings, specimen collections, irrigations, suture removals, and IVs) and document patient responses.
  • Set up examination rooms and equipment for procedures, assisting physicians as required.
  • Support the monitoring and management of patient and physician electronic communications as delegated by the Registered Nurse and within the scope of practice.
  • Provide patient education and distribute preparation materials for diagnostic tests according to established protocols.
  • Schedule appointments for patients with laboratory, radiology, consultations, and follow-up visits as directed by the healthcare provider.
  • Deliver preventive and ongoing health education to patients and their families.
  • Address and resolve patient concerns in a timely manner.
  • Participate in emergency care as needed and as directed by the physician or registered nurse.
  • Uphold department Quality Improvement standards.

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications: N/A

Education:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program (LPN/LVN).

Licensure and Certification:

  • Practical Nurse License (Georgia) required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association required upon hire.

Additional Requirements:

  • Completion of a Customer Service Assessment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in healthcare is preferred.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills through Customer Service Assessment.

Notes:

  • May be required to assist in other departments and cross-train in Pediatrics as necessary.
