Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join our Urban and Community Forestry (UCF) crew as a Conservation Team Member. This role is perfect for those passionate about making a positive impact on their community and the environment.

About the Job

This 12-week program offers hands-on training and experience in urban forestry, with opportunities to work on projects such as tree planting, maintenance, wildfire protection, invasive plant management, and tree surveying. As a member of our UCF crew, you will work closely with experienced field staff who will provide comprehensive training and education throughout your term of service.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Contribute to urban forest health projects in the Treasure Valley area, working collaboratively with team members and field staff.
  2. Participate in comprehensive training and education programs, including topics such as:
  • USDA Chainsaw Operation and Maintenance
  • Brush Cutter Operation and Maintenance
  • Power Pole Saw Operation and Maintenance
  • Wood Chipper Operation
  • Pesticide Applicator Training
  • Forestry Education including Tree Identification, Proper Tree Planting and Maintenance techniques, Common Health Issues in Trees, Surveying Techniques
  • OHSA Training
Maintain accurate records and reports, adhering to project timelines and deadlines.Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Capacity to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and schedules.

Salary Information

The estimated annual salary for this position is approximately $65,000, based on a stipend of around $15 per hour and an average of 40 hours worked per week. However, please note that this is an AmeriCorps opportunity, and compensation may be adjusted accordingly.
