Purpose and Scope

The teaching faculty at Lone Star College is responsible for providing a high-quality learning experience for students. As an adjunct faculty member, you will play a critical role in achieving this goal by teaching Dental Hygiene courses and contributing to the educational environment of the college.

Essential Job Functions
  • Teach Dental Hygiene courses at various times and locations
  • Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
  • Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner
  • Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills

Physical Abilities

The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters and record boxes.

Work Schedule and Conditions

Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment, and any specialized equipment standard within the discipline/industry

Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in dental hygiene and a bachelor's degree OR bachelor's degree in dental hygiene OR a DDS from a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation
  • 3 years nonteaching work experience in the field
  • Current Texas license as RDH (Registered Dental Hygienist) or DDS (Dentist)
