About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a PACU nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care to individuals recovering from surgery.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where no two days are ever the same. You will be responsible for administering direct care, including administering medications, practicing infection control, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. Additionally, you will assume responsibility for the delivery of nursing care to all assigned patients, communicating changes in their condition and questions regarding patient care to the Charge RN/Clinician.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer direct care when professional nursing skills and judgment are needed
  • Administer medications as prescribed by physicians
  • Practice infection control and participate in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for the delivery of nursing care to all assigned patients
  • Communicate changes in patient's condition and questions regarding patient care to Charge RN/Clinician
Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State and one year of post-licensure acute care nursing experience. A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing may be substituted for one year of the experience. Current PACU or ICU experience and BLS, ACLS, PALS, EKG certifications are also preferred.
