Your Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated Geotechnical/Civil Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will leverage their technical expertise to tackle a variety of geotechnical engineering challenges related to transportation, building, and water projects. Responsibilities will encompass specialized tasks such as the analysis and design of foundation systems for infrastructure, slope stability assessments, ground improvement strategies, and contributions to stream restoration initiatives.
In this role, you will engage in a range of activities including client and team coordination, leading project meetings, preparing and reviewing engineering calculations and reports, conducting site visits, and mentoring junior staff. You will analyze project proposals to ensure they meet standards for structural integrity, resource efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Enhance our reputation with clients and industry professionals through exceptional service delivery.
- Expand internal and external networks to bolster Stantec's standing and attract new talent.
- Collaborate with Project Technical Leads and Managers to set project goals, procedures, and performance benchmarks.
- Lead and manage team members across various projects, ensuring effective task delegation.
- Conduct and review engineering analyses and develop comprehensive calculation packages.
- Provide guidance and training to junior engineers.
- Foster client relationships to support project initiatives.
- Encourage teamwork and collaboration across different business lines and regions.
- Act as Engineer-of-Record for projects and associated documentation.
- Facilitate project coordination meetings with team members and external stakeholders.
- Participate in professional organizations, author technical papers, and present at industry events.
- Offer construction support services, including review of submissions and responses to inquiries.
- Assist in developing new standards and specifications relevant to your discipline.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and engage with clients effectively.
- Strong time management skills with a focus on project roles, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Comprehensive understanding of client expectations, budgeting, and high-quality deliverable production.
- Expertise in guiding teams through all phases of design projects.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations and adaptability to client-specific requirements.
- Efficient management of multiple concurrent projects and tasks.
- Ability to review the work of others for accuracy and completeness.
- Excellent team-building capabilities and a collaborative spirit.
- In-depth knowledge of civil and geotechnical engineering principles and practices.
- Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and related materials.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with industry-standard software.
- Willingness to travel for project meetings and site investigations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in at least one jurisdiction, with the ability to obtain reciprocity.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with NYSDOT and NYSTA is advantageous.
