Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
Primary Responsibility

As a Product Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the New Product Introduction process for sheet resistance mappers, thin-film measurement systems, and optical profilers.

In this capacity, you will collaborate with multi-functional teams globally to devise a strategy for servicing these new products in the field.

Job Scope
Minimize program serviceability risks by serving as the Voice of Service throughout the Product Life Cycle (PLC) for new products. This involves developing a service strategy that includes: Cost of Service Modeling, Reliability Modeling, Retrofits, Intellectual Property protections, calibrations, and PM Optimizations.


Acquire in-depth knowledge of overall system operation, integration, and calibrations/diagnostics through hands-on learning from Tech Support Engineers and Design Engineers to enhance support for Alpha & Beta Systems and retrofits.


Begin formulating a detailed Product Support Plan (PSP) in collaboration with engineering, marketing, finance, and service, outlining KLA Instrument's strategy for supporting new products.


Develop product service education and knowledge across the Product Support Organization utilizing training sessions, Augmented Reality (AR), individual coaching, documentation, and other knowledge collection tools to enhance your colleagues' readiness to serve.


Conduct spares obsolescence risk analysis and coordinate with the Spares Planning team to initiate strategies that mitigate Service supply chain risks, including addressing known issues and collaborating with GSS Engineering and Operations teams.

Participate in service alert meetings and Plan of Action (POA) development for critical issues and other sustaining activities. Document and share Best Known Methods (BKM) and other improvements in the knowledge database.


Work closely with the cross-divisional NPI Best Practice Team to enhance and refine existing BKMs through participation in discussions, training sessions, and feedback provision.


Actively manage and support beta installations in-person by auditing procedures, updating existing documentation, identifying training gaps, and resolving unforeseen challenges to drive continuous improvement for future installations and upgrades.

Travel Requirements: Ability to travel domestically and internationally. Preferred Qualifications
A Master's or advanced degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or Physics/Materials Science.

Proven experience in coordinating or managing Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes and procedures.

Experience in High-Tech Capital Equipment within KLA Instruments or a similar Semiconductor industry.

Demonstrated familiarity with manufacturing control systems (ERP, PLM, etc.) and customer management systems (CRM).

Proficient in data analysis to investigate problems and determine necessary data to address specific inquiries.

Experience with VBA & Python programming languages.

Familiarity with MS Project and Visio.

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

5 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree; or 3 years with a master's degree.

Exceptional technical writing and documentation skills.

Proficiency in Basic Microsoft Software Packages.

Strong presentation skills and comfort in front of diverse audiences.

A willingness to learn new technologies, processes, and techniques.
