Role Summary

Chamberlain College of Nursing is seeking Part-Time Clinical Instructors to educate students enrolled in our Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.


This position offers a remarkable opportunity to enhance your experience as a nurse educator, joining the largest nursing school in the nation with a rich history of over 130 years in nursing education.


Clinical instruction will take place onsite at one of our clinical partner locations.

Typical Schedule: 12-hour shifts (7a-7p) for three to four consecutive days every six or seven weeks.

Chamberlain students engage in practice settings that encompass hospitals, long-term care facilities, community health organizations, faith-based service entities, and public health agencies, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.

Course Focus

Collaborative Nursing: This course aims to broaden the nursing practice scope for senior nursing students, concentrating on the health promotion and management of adult patients with acute and chronic conditions. The nursing process is integral to discussions regarding health alterations affecting various life processes, while students continue to develop their professional skills as part of the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical instruction and service to the College, community, healthcare system, and profession.
  • Take ownership of all autonomous aspects of individual teaching assignments.
  • Design clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering care to individuals or groups.
  • Maintain availability to staff at clinical agencies.
  • Assess and provide documented feedback to students regarding their performance based on course objectives.
  • Offer remediation to students as necessary.
  • Stay informed about agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with assistance from agency personnel.
  • Create and distribute written clinical assignments aligned with students' knowledge, skill levels, and individual learning needs.
  • Timely review and return homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, and clinical paperwork.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and the College.
  • May teach didactic course content under the supervision of the course coordinator.
  • Keep the course coordinator updated on all student and agency issues.
  • Collaborate with college administration, staff, and faculty to enhance overall college operations and student satisfaction.
  • Engage in the College Assessment Program, campus retention initiatives, and both departmental and campus policies.
  • Serve as a professional role model for faculty, staff, and students in customer service, collaboration, communication, professionalism, and attendance.
  • Utilize interpersonal skills in group problem-solving and consensus-building situations.
  • Adhere to all applicable regulatory rules and standards.
  • Report to the dean or assistant dean, with direct oversight from a course coordinator.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) is required.
  • Two years of experience within the last five years in nursing practice as a medical-surgical registered nurse is required.
  • Strong communication skills with a high level of initiative and sound judgment.
  • Professional Nurse licensure is required in Alabama.
  • Illinois nursing license must be obtained before accepting any clinical contract for a given session.
Additional Information

Compensation:
In alignment with pay transparency laws, the expected compensation for this position ranges from $1,120 to $7,245 per assignment, depending on the candidate's education and experience. Actual pay may vary based on job-related factors permitted by law, including course type, experience, geographic location, licensure, certifications, market factors, departmental budgets, and responsibilities.
