Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as an Ambulatory Surgical Nurse Specialist. This role involves providing direct patient care, collaborating with healthcare teams, and contributing to the development of standardized patient education programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient status on admission to the preop area, operating room, and post-op area, and on a continuing basis.
  • Provide safe, therapeutic quality care to patients by utilizing the nursing process and setting appropriate priorities.
  • Coordinate nursing interventions to enhance achievement of expected outcomes and ensure readiness for discharge.
  • Document interventions and patient responses.
  • Evaluate patient learning needs according to their level of understanding and readiness to learn.
  • Participate in patient and family education, pre- and post-op phone calls, and communication of any problems to the appropriate person.
  • Maintain competencies to function in the RN role within specific areas.
  • Protect sedated and anesthetized patients by identifying safety hazards.
  • Expertise in safety principles, asepsis, sterile technique, and universal precautions.
  • Assess, anticipate, and implement appropriate care throughout the surgical process.
  • Correlate clinical data with nursing care and provide patient care measures congruent with their age, sex, and health status.

Requirements

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State.
  • 1-2+ years' experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center required.
  • Cataract Pre/Post op experience a plus.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current ACLS certification preferred or basic EKG or Arrhythmia identification certification.
  • EMR system familiarity.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $65,000-$85,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
