Diesel Technician II Job Description

The Diesel Technician II is a key member of our team at Knight's Companies, responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on diesel and non-diesel vehicles and heavy equipment to ensure sound, safe, and reliable performance. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil and filter changes, tire rotations, and lubrication services.
  • Diagnose and repair minor to mid-level electrical and mechanical issues on affected trucks and equipment.
  • Test power and hydraulic systems to ensure operation within manufacturer specifications.
  • Complete required repairs and maintenance tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assist senior technicians with more complex repairs and provide guidance and assistance to junior technicians.
Requirements:
  • Auto or diesel technology diploma from an accredited technical school or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience performing maintenance or mechanical work.
  • Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
  • ASE Certifications preferred.
  • Commercial Driver's License Class A or B preferred.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. from floor to waist height.
  • Ability to carry a minimum of 50 lbs. over a 5-foot span.
  • Ability to push/pull a minimum of 50 lbs. across a 10-foot span.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend or twist body without restriction.
  • Ability to kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl.
