Job Summary:
Light Horse Therapeutics is a biotechnology company that employs cutting-edge tools in functional genomics and proteomic technologies to identify functional/ligandable sites on high-value oncology protein targets for therapeutic intervention. We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Research Associate to join our Discovery Biology group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute cellular assays to discover small molecule inhibitors of protein targets, leveraging expertise in mammalian cell culture, cell line engineering, and high-throughput screening.
- Perturb and understand protein function using techniques such as siRNA, RNAi, CRISPR, reporter assays, and others, to build an understanding of novel target biology.
- Conduct weekly cell-based high-throughput screening to generate data packages and identify active small molecules, with a focus on data analysis, interpretation, and record-keeping.
- Engage in experimental planning and independently execute experiments, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive project goals.
- Manage data and perform diligent and timely record-keeping, ensuring accurate and reliable data for decision-making.
- Communicate science and data effectively in team meetings and cross-functional settings, with a focus on clear and concise communication.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Biology or a related discipline, with 2-5 years of hands-on research experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical environment.
- Expertise in mammalian cell culture, managing multiple cell lines simultaneously, and preparing cells for multiple concurrent assays.
- Technical proficiency in cell line engineering, siRNA/shRNA, qPCR, mammalian cell transfection, lentiviral production, and transduction.
- Previous experience in developing and running high-throughput assays, with a focus on data analysis and interpretation.
- Strong communication skills in conveying scientific concepts and data, with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail and excellent documentation skills, with a focus on accurate and reliable data.
We offer a competitive total compensation package, as well as a supportive team environment, with a salary range of $73,000 to $115,000 for candidates working in San Diego, CA.
