Campus Security Substitute

Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Campus Security Substitute to join our team at Escondido Union High School District. As a Campus Security Substitute, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patrol campus grounds, classrooms, parking areas, and restrooms to ensure a secure environment.
- Regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic at school entrances to maintain an orderly flow.
- Cite violators of school parking regulations and take appropriate action when students are found in violation of school regulations or law.
- Warn visitors of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
- Maintain security of closed campus by keeping students on campus and non-students off campus unless registered with administration.
- Respond to the needs of faculty, staff, students, and administration regarding student confrontations or other inappropriate behaviors that may compromise the safety of the campus.
- May be required to intercede in student confrontations and provide security service for after-school activities.
- May be called upon to assist with emergency custodial and/or utility tasks and campus clean-up.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); a minimum of two years experience working with adolescents, some training or experience in security preferred.
- Post-secondary classes in adolescent behavior, drug/gang awareness helpful.
- Ability to read and understand documents, write routine reports, and effectively present information to students, administrators, and other employees.
- Ability to confront students and visitors in a non-aggressive manner and establish a rapport with adolescents while maintaining authority.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Working Conditions:
- Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Loud noise level in the work environment.
