Scope of WorkThe Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in providing high-quality patient care in the Emergency Department. Under the direction of the Nurse Leader, the RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge patients. The RN partners with patients and families to develop a plan of care that meets their unique needs and goals.

- Associate's degree in Nursing is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required within five years.
- Graduates from non-accredited schools of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed healthcare role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
- MI Registered Nurse (RN) licensure is required.
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 90 days.
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required within one year.
- NIH Stroke Certification - NIHSS National Institute of Health Stroke Scale is required within 90 days.
- AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required within one year.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - ENA Emergency Nurses Association ER and Chest Pain Unit certification is required within two years.
