About the Role:

The Assistant Director will provide strategic leadership and support to the Director of Public Library, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the library. This includes managing a team of staff, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and ensuring the effective delivery of library services to the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Director in the management and evaluation of library operations, including budgeting, personnel management, and facilities management.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the effective delivery of library services.
  • Lead a team of staff, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities to ensure the highest level of performance.
  • Collaborate with other Town departments to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance the library's services and programs.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or a related field.
  • Four to six years of experience in a leadership role in a library or related field.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, stakeholders, and the community.
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in library and information science.
