As a Registered Nurse working with our surgical patients, you will deliver direct nursing care in alignment with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. We currently have full-time day and PRN positions available.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Employs medical-surgical nursing standards to enhance the quality of care and life for patients, families, and significant others by systematically assessing the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices.
- Builds effective relationships and advocates for patients, families, and significant others to facilitate the creation of personalized care plans.
- Utilizes the nursing process to formulate and execute care plans, gather assessment data for each patient, establish appropriate nursing diagnoses, identify expected patient outcomes, devise care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate patient results.
- Develops assessment and management strategies considering the physical, functional, cultural, social, economic, developmental, spiritual, vocational, and leisure aspects of human responses to actual and potential health issues.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the implications of actual or potential illnesses on each patient's physical, functional, cultural, social, economic, developmental, spiritual, vocational, and leisure status.
- Exhibits leadership skills by coordinating and collaborating with patients, families, significant others, communities, and inter-professional team members in assessing needs, setting goals, planning interventions, providing care, and evaluating outcomes.
- Engages in effective communication with patients, families, significant others, and other healthcare providers in collaborative decision-making that is culturally sensitive, ethical, legal, holistic, informed, compassionate, and humane, while considering available economic resources.
- Educates patients, families, and significant others on measures that promote, maintain, and restore health or enhance comfort.
- Encourages a healthy work environment within the practice setting and profession by serving as a mentor and role model for nursing colleagues, students, and others.
- Applies evidence-based practices and scientific knowledge in healthcare to medical-surgical nursing, ensuring that care is tailored to the patient's age-specific and clinical needs as outlined in the department's Scope of Service.
- Maintains a constant state of alertness and operates in a safe manner.
- May conduct point-of-care testing in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 2 years in an Operating Room setting.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Constant verbal communication to share information.
- Frequent standing and walking.
- Regular lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, reaching, and data entry.
- Regular use of vision and depth perception for near and far distances, including color differentiation.
- Frequent olfactory and auditory skills for recognizing odors and receiving oral communication.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
- Occasional patient lifting/moving.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive movements of the feet/legs and hands/arms.
WORK SCHEDULE
8-hour shifts
Day shifts (7am-3:30pm)
On-call hours required at least 8 days per month, including 3 days on weekends.
