BWXT Technologies invites applications for a Non-Destructive Testing Engineer Lead to join our team in Mt. Vernon, IN. This role requires a strong background in NDT methods and excellent collaboration skills to drive technical excellence within the NDT inspection program.

Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate partnerships with Level III Inspectors and/or NAVSEA Examiners to guarantee compliance with contract requirements.
  • Partner with Project Engineering to create detailed reports outlining innovative solutions to technical challenges and discrepancies.
  • Promote ongoing improvement initiatives within the NDT inspection program, encompassing the submission of contractual modifications pertaining to NDT as necessary.
  • Engage in and/or lead the development of inspection protocols, training sessions, and equipment procurement across all NDT methodologies.
  • Exercise technical oversight over supplier NDT activities and facilitate cooperation with other BWXT facilities to resolve common supplier NDT performance issues.
  • Evaluate candidate non-destructive evaluation needs and formulate custom system development plans to address these needs.
  • Design and simulate NDE tests supported by analytical and numerical modeling to optimize testing systems.
  • Develop NDE system designs, including specifying subsystem components like scanners, NDE instruments, data acquisition tools, and software development.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience with a focus on NDT methods.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven analytical and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in collaborative environments and leading cross-functional teams of subject matter experts.
  • Able to identify industry best practices and lessons learned to apply to the implementation in facility processes.
  • A self-starter, able to work as part of a team, and individually according to work needs.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience using CIVA for simulating ultrasonic and eddy current inspections.
  • Experience using CAPPSNC or Renishaw measurement programming.
  • Experience using CAD packages.
