Position Title: Quality Control Chemist
Employment Type: Fulltime Role
Job Overview:
The Quality Control Chemist will engage in a diverse range of quality assurance testing to evaluate the strength, identity, and purity of various test samples and materials. This role requires collaboration within a team to efficiently plan and execute analytical testing in accordance with established testing protocols, whether official or proprietary. The Chemist will primarily conduct their work at the laboratory bench level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assigned sampling, physical, and chemical analyses on raw materials, active pharmaceutical ingredients, in-process, finished, and stability products utilizing various wet chemistry techniques and instrumental methods (including HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, IR, Particle Size Analyzer, KF Auto titrator, Bulk Density, and other standard QC instruments) in compliance with USP monographs or other relevant compendial standards.
- Independently organize and maintain an adequate inventory of testing reagents and solutions necessary for the execution of assigned tasks, ensuring timely ordering of supplies.
- Plan and carry out testing procedures to meet established deadlines, performing complex analyses with guidance from supervisory personnel.
- Accurately document data and results in accordance with established documentation practices, ensuring clarity and precision in all recorded work.
- Prepare and/or review Test Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Protocols as required.
- Perform maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments and equipment under the supervision and training of senior staff.
- Engage in troubleshooting and investigative processes as directed by a supervisor.
- Adhere to laboratory safety protocols, including proper handling of chemical waste and compliance with cGMP and cGLP standards during all assigned activities.
- Review analytical documentation as necessary.
Qualifications - Skills & Requirements:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline, with a preference for Chemistry.
1-3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with at least 1-2 years in analytical testing preferred.
Experience in quality control within generic pharmaceutical sectors is advantageous.
Familiarity with Good Documentation Practices and knowledge of USP/ICH/FDA regulations is essential.
Demonstrated ability to learn rapidly and make informed decisions is required.
