Electronics Principal Engineer

As a Principal Electronics Engineer at TECO Westinghouse, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of cutting-edge electronic systems. This role requires a strong background in low-voltage electrical engineering, circuit design, and electronic systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless interaction between hardware and software.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop control boards incorporating FPGAs and CPUs, ensuring they meet specific project needs.
- Create detailed schematics and layout designs, optimizing for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Develop and analyze low-voltage electrical circuits, including power management, signal processing, and control circuitry.
- Utilize simulation tools to model circuit behavior and validate designs before physical prototyping.
- Integrate control boards with other system components, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance across the entire system.
- Work closely with firmware and software teams to ensure seamless interaction between hardware and software.
- Design and develop various electrical equipment, focusing on both functional and performance requirements.
- Apply best practices in electronic design, including component selection, layout optimization, and thermal management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, firmware developers, and project managers, to ensure successful project execution.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Physical Science with 8-12 years of related work experience, or Master's or PhD degree preferred.
- Experience in programming languages relevant to board design and control systems (e.g., VHDL, Verilog, C/C++, Python).
- Ability to develop and debug code for FPGA and CPU-based systems.
- Five to eight years of experience using relevant CAD, PDM, and/or simulation software.
- Three to five years of experience using applicable industry standards.
- Experience writing technical papers, preferably as lead author.
- Three to five years of experience managing projects with up to one year duration and up to three team members.
