SUMMARYAssume engineering responsibility for Magnetics and Power Electronics Engineer to spearhead design initiatives in our cutting-edge R&D projects. Your primary focus will be on developing high-frequency transformers for medium voltage power conversion, where your expertise in transformer design and diverse power converter topologies will be essential. This role demands a strong foundation in electrical principles, coupled with hands-on experience in both simulation and programming. This is to be accomplished with only general directions from a Chief Engineer or Engineering Manager. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESLead the design and development of high-frequency transformers for medium voltage power conversion applications, focusing on optimizing efficiency, thermal management, and electromagnetic compatibility.Explore and implement innovative magnetic core materials and winding techniques to enhance transformer performance at high frequencies.Lead R&D efforts to explore new technologies in magnetics, materials, and power electronics, driving innovation within the company.Stay updated on emerging trends and advancements in power conversion and magnetics, applying new knowledge to ongoing and future projects.Design and develop power converters for efficient AC to DC conversion, including topologies such as bridge rectifiers, boost converters, and isolated/non-isolated designs.Develop DC to AC inverters utilizing topologies like full-bridge, half-bridge, and multi-level inverters to ensure high efficiency and reliability.Design AC to AC converters, including matrix converters, cycloconverters, and indirect frequency converters, tailored to specific medium voltage applications.Create and optimize DC to DC converters with topologies such as buck, boost, buck-boost, and resonant converters for various voltage and current levels.Implement and optimize switching techniques such as hard switching, soft switching (zero-voltage switching, zero-current switching), and pulse-width modulation (PWM) to improve converter performance.Develop and refine control algorithms to regulate converter operation, ensuring stability and responsiveness under varying load conditions.Use advanced simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE) to model and analyze the performance of transformers and power converters, predicting thermal, electrical, and magnetic behavior.Review product compliance to company standards, customer requirements, industry standards and regulations. Develop strategy to achieve product compliance and certification.Lead the preparation of technical papers and provide input to invention disclosures.Represents the Company before customers and at technical conferences in support of marketing and sales. May be a seated member of an industrial technical committee or advisory group representing the technical views of the Company.Act in the capacity of subject matter expert within the CompanyCompliance with all Company policies is required, including adherence to Company ISO 9001 Standards and compliance with Company Affirmative Action Plan and Company Safety procedures.Compliance with applicable Company policies concerning maintaining a drug free workplace is required.Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.Other functions as required (non-essential functions).SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTSThe position requires daily contact with all levels of TWMC and customers including Engineering, Marketing, Factory Operations, Supply Chain, Service and Accounting.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in Electrical Engineering or Physical Science with eight to twelve years of related work experience, or Master's or PhD. degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Professional certification or license preferred.Great knowledge of topologies and design for AC-DC, DC-DC and DC-AC systemsThree to five years of experience using applicable industry standards.Experience writing technical papers, preferably as lead author.Three to five years of experience managing projects with up to one year duration and up to three team members.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSAs required, based on job responsibilities, education and customer specific needs. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to develop and optimize control algorithms for stable and efficient converter operation.in programming languages and tools relevant to power electronics and control systems (e.g., C/C++, Python, MATLAB). Ability to speak effectively in conferences, before groups of customers or employees of organization.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Proficiency of statistical tools.Drive to learn new skills, acquire knowledge and apply to practical situations.Bias for action.LANGUAGE SKILLS The ability to read, analyze, and interpret manufacturing drawings, repair specifications, test results, and technical journals; respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community; and communicate effectively in the presence of top management, customers, trade associations, and other public groups.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, algebra, permutations, calculus, and differential equations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to identify a solution to a problem involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.SUPERVISION RECEIVED General supervision will be provided. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work effectively and take ownership of assigned projects in a fast-paced environment.
