Position Summary:

The Tool Room Associate plays a crucial role in the layout, fitting, and assembly of molds. This position is also responsible for the construction and modification of components necessary for the fabrication and repair of cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.

Key Responsibilities:

To excel in this role, the individual must effectively perform the following essential duties:

  1. Conduct thorough disassembly of molds, including cleaning, inspection, part replacement, lubrication, and reassembly.
  2. Repair flash through proficient welding techniques on parting lines.
  3. Handwork and polish all cavity surfaces to ensure quality.
  4. Maintain manifolds, hot runners, and valve gates in optimal condition.
  5. Replace worn-out valve pins, tips, and heaters as necessary.
  6. Demonstrate proficiency with tool room machinery, including mills, lathes, and surface grinders.
  7. Respond to production inquiries and perform repairs promptly to meet customer demands.
  8. Possess a working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  9. Execute engineering modifications or repairs involving TIG welding and pneumatic tools, such as pencil, straight, and right-angle grinders.
  10. Collaborate with the Tooling Engineer to review tooling requests and determine processing methods.
  11. Assist in managing parts inventory for commonly replaced items like springs, ejector pins, and sleeves.
  12. Ensure cleanliness and organization of tooling equipment and workspace.
  13. Manufacture and repair fixtures and specialized tools as directed by the Engineering Manager.
  14. Provide tooling support to the Maintenance Department as authorized by the Plant Manager.
  15. Oversee the maintenance of the Profile system and PM software.
  16. Coordinate the shipment of tools to vendors and customers.
  17. Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

The following education and experience are required for this position:

  1. An Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical institution.
  2. A minimum of five years of experience in the plastics industry.
  3. At least three years of experience in tool building within injection molding.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 3:30 PM, 40 hours per week.
