Position Overview:

Kansas State University Division of Facilities is looking for a skilled Maintenance & Repair Technician II. This role involves conducting preventive maintenance on various systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, exhaust systems, light plumbing, pneumatic air equipment, building lighting systems, and exterior lighting systems. Additional responsibilities include light carpentry and maintaining cleanliness in building interactions. Standard working hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Qualifications for Success:

Minimum Requirements:

  • One year of relevant experience is required. Educational qualifications may substitute for experience as deemed appropriate by the agency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in two or more building trades or mechanical building trades for at least one year.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and hands-on experience with industrial exhaust fans, air handling units, and heating/cooling ventilation systems, including the ability to change and rewire ballasts and utilize wiring diagrams for installation according to manufacturing specifications.
  • Capability to read and interpret wiring diagrams effectively.

Additional Requirements:

  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
  • A valid driver's license is required and must be maintained.
  • Certification as a Class I Asbestos worker must be obtained and maintained during the probationary period.
  • Medical certification for respirator use is required within the probationary period and must be maintained annually.
  • This position is governed by the Kansas Association of Public Employees (KAPE) agreement.
  • Additional training and/or certification may be necessary once employed.
