Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our team at Hardesty & Hanover. As a key member of our structural engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing structural and bridge construction documents for various transportation structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Prepare structural and bridge construction documents for state and municipally owned bridges, walls, culverts, and other transportation structures.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead design production, including task assignment and oversight for junior engineering staff.
  • Engineering Computations: Complete engineering computations to support the development of detailed plans and construction documents.
  • Quality Control and Assurance: Adhere to quality control and quality assurance procedures.
  • Communication and Coordination: Effectively communicate and coordinate with other members of the design team.
  • Site Visits: Occasionally perform bridge site visits for data collection.
  • Load Ratings: Perform Load Ratings on state and municipally owned bridges and other structures.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Certification: OR or WA PE (or the ability to obtain license within 6 months of hire).
  • Experience: Five to ten years of structural engineering experience.
  • Software Proficiency: Exposure to MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
  • Technical Skills: Competent use of MIDAS Civil, AASHTOWare BrR, and/or Csi Bridge.
  • Industry Knowledge: Demonstrated experience with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, Guide Specifications for LFRD Seismic Bridge Design, Oregon DOT BDM, WSDOT BDM.
  • Mentorship: Experience with mentorship of junior engineers preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Teamwork: Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
