The Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer will primarily focus on leveraging and developing code to enhance automation, visibility, and reliability for our infrastructure and applications. This role will employ cutting-edge technology to deploy, automate, manage, and troubleshoot all aspects of our Technology Infrastructure. As a member of an Agile team, you will collaborate across departments on enterprise-wide technology initiatives that support our ongoing digital transformation objectives. This position demands a comprehensive understanding of diverse technologies and the capacity to think creatively, utilizing advanced problem-solving skills to devise innovative solutions for any technology challenge – encompassing Data Center Infrastructure Management, Technology Operations, Service Delivery Platforms, and Enterprise IT.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance automation, visibility, and reliability across our technology landscape, utilizing various programming languages, third-party tools, and integrations.
  • Establish and uphold Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for the reliability of our products and infrastructure.
  • Integrate operational technologies with monitoring tools to enhance visibility of potential issues, proactively mitigating risks and maximizing the availability of IT infrastructure and services.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues affecting both external customers and internal systems.
  • Facilitate discussions to gather feature design requirements from stakeholders.
  • Support organizational change management through platform training.
  • Assist in planning the platform roadmap.
  • Manage vendor relationships and assess new technologies.
  • Document and plan Method of Procedures (MOPs) and engineering standards, overseeing the lifecycle of assigned devices and providing budget inputs.
  • Promote and implement an "automation-first" mindset, regularly updating executives on improvements.
  • Conduct research using multiple sources to resolve high-severity issues efficiently.
  • Collaborate across departments on technology challenges that drive our digital transformation.
  • Work with event-driven architectures using technologies such as MQTT or Apache Kafka.
  • Implement, configure, and maintain database technologies like Cassandra and InfluxDB for diverse data handling.
  • Proactively assess system performance and identify opportunities for enhancement.
  • Create and update infrastructure documentation, including technical diagrams and workbooks.
  • Review and update Change Requests, MOPs, and related documentation.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior Cloud Engineers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years in systems engineering or a similar capacity.
  • At least 2 years of experience in coding with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and developing Ansible playbooks for task automation.
  • Proficiency in systems administration for Linux/Unix and Windows environments.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Understanding of networking protocols and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 7 years of experience in infrastructure management, DevOps, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as VCP, RHCE, MCSA, MCSE, CKA, etc.
  • Experience managing Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) systems and operations.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) principles.
  • Strong grasp of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical challenges.
  • Familiarity with IT security best practices and vulnerability remediation.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing highly available and scalable infrastructure solutions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expertise in writing infrastructure as code and managing updates to Ansible playbooks and code repositories (e.g., GitLab, GitHub) following best practices in Agile and release management.
  • Advanced understanding of one or more scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).
  • Proficient in deploying, upgrading, and migrating complex private cloud environments using current versions of VMware vCenter Server and ESXi.
  • Skilled in deploying and administering Windows and Linux operating systems such as RedHat/CentOS.
  • Ability to harden operating systems in accordance with compliance standards and organizational policies.
  • Proficient in containerization using Docker and orchestration with Docker Swarm and/or Kubernetes, as well as image management with container registries.
  • Experienced in utilizing CI/CD and orchestration tools for code testing and automation (e.g., Jenkins, Ansible Tower).
  • Capable of developing monitoring and observability solutions across various technologies to enhance overall system reliability.
  • Proficient in understanding, integrating, and developing REST API-based solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, adept at resolving complex issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging with all organizational levels and customers with varying technical knowledge.
  • Exceptional written communication skills.
