Job Overview:


The Housekeeping Operations Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the effective functioning of the Housekeeping Department, ensuring compliance with Hilton Boston Woburn standards. This position involves managing all aspects of housekeeping, including guest rooms, public areas, and laundry services.

It is expected that exempt associates will dedicate sufficient time each workday to fulfill their job responsibilities.

Exempt managers are required to customarily and regularly supervise at least three full-time associates or their equivalents.

Key responsibilities should comprise administrative, executive, or professional tasks for more than 50% of the time, and the role must also involve the exercise of discretion and independent judgment for over 50% of the time.


Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications:


Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related sector; alternatively, a 2-year college degree combined with 3 or more years of relevant experience; or a 4-year college degree with at least 1 year of related experience.

Supervisory experience is mandatory.

Proficiency in Windows operating systems, company-approved spreadsheets, and word processing is required.

A valid driver's license for the applicable state is necessary.

Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly is essential.

Must be capable of evaluating and selecting among alternative courses of action swiftly and accurately.

Ability to perform well in high-pressure situations is crucial.

Maintaining composure and objectivity under stress is required.

Effectiveness in addressing workplace issues, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving problems, is vital.

Ability to assimilate complex information from various sources and adapt it to meet specific needs is necessary.

Effective listening and understanding skills to clarify and resolve concerns raised by colleagues and guests are essential.

Competence in working with financial information and basic arithmetic functions is required.

Responsibilities:
Approach all interactions with guests and staff in a courteous, attentive, and service-oriented manner.


Maintain regular attendance in accordance with Hilton Boston Woburn standards as required by scheduling, which may vary based on hotel needs.

Uphold high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the appropriate uniform and name tag while on duty (as per brand standards).

Adhere to Hilton Boston Woburn standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations.

Comply with certification requirements relevant to the position, including Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, CPR, and First Aid.

Establish and maintain a key control system for the department.

Utilize radios efficiently and professionally for communication with hotel staff.

Ensure proper radio etiquette within the housekeeping department.

Supervise and direct all Housekeeping and Laundry personnel.


Conduct daily inspections of rooms and avoid scheduling additional supervisors or assistants unless occupancy exceeds 90 rooms or with General Manager's approval (specific to property).

Ensure adherence to company and brand training protocols using effective training steps according to Hilton Boston Woburn standards.

Conduct all 90-day and annual employee performance evaluations following Hilton Boston Woburn S.O.P.'s.

Review worked hours of Housekeeping staff for payroll processing and submit to accounting promptly.


Be responsible for developing a manager as assigned by the Corporate Office, including sign-off on all competencies and assisting in their placement.

Hold monthly department meetings with housekeeping staff in accordance with Hilton Boston Woburn standards.

Prepare employee schedules based on business forecasts, payroll budget guidelines, and productivity requirements. Submit the schedule and wage progress report to the General Manager weekly.

Oversee daily inspections for arriving VIP guests.

Ensure that lobbies, guest hallways, guest rooms, and back-of-house areas are cleaned to Hilton Boston Woburn standards.

Maintain standards regarding purchase orders, invoice vouchering, and checkbook accounting according to Hilton Boston Woburn S.O.P.'s.


Maintain required par levels of all Housekeeping and Laundry supplies by ordering necessary supplies and amenities on a monthly or quarterly basis.

Conduct monthly and quarterly inventories of Housekeeping supplies in a timely manner.

Ensure guest privacy and security by strictly following Hilton Boston Woburn procedures.

Participate in required Manager on Duty coverage as scheduled.

Ensure implementation of all Hilton Boston Woburn policies and house rules.

Train and review all 'House Safety' rules and procedures with Housekeeping staff.

Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline all Housekeeping personnel in accordance with Hilton Boston Woburn S.O.P.'s.

Prepare and conduct all Housekeeping interviews and hiring processes according to Hilton Boston Woburn S.O.P.'s.

Monitor work orders and submit them to the Engineering department as per procedures; follow up on maintenance requests to ensure completion.

Respond to all guest requests, situations, complaints, and incidents presented to Housekeeping in a courteous, attentive, and efficient manner.

Attend monthly all-employee team meetings and any other functions required by management.


Participate in weekly staff meetings and provide training on a rotational basis using effective training steps according to Hilton Boston Woburn standards.

Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open communication with other managers, employees, and all departments.

Respond to emergency situations using information contained in Material Safety Data sheets. Keep MSDS sheets current and easily accessible.

Focus the Housekeeping Department on its role in enhancing guest service scores.


Balance and clear the room status nightly, comparing the PM Housekeeping Report with the computer's room status report and resolving any discrepancies.

Maintain and monitor 'Lost and Found' procedures and policies according to standards.


Train all Housekeeping personnel to perform their duties to Hilton Boston Woburn standards using effective training steps according to Hilton Boston Woburn standards.

Ensure that employees are consistently attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and other employees.

Conduct daily morning meetings with staff.

Conduct weekly walkthroughs with the General Manager and Property Engineer.

Utilize the telephone and computer system for reporting and verifying room status.

Ensure valet laundry is recorded for valet cleaners. Check and review incoming laundry at the end of the day to ensure all items have been returned (specific to property).

Properly store, secure, and issue supplies as needed to meet business demands.

Complete all reports in a timely and efficient manner as required by management.

Establish any additional standards for the Housekeeping Department with the General Manager's approval.


Review the Guest Request log daily to ensure that all requests have been fulfilled, taking proactive steps to address issues before they arise.

Ensure completion of regular maintenance and cleaning projects on a biannual basis.

Monitor all VIP guests and special requests.

Perform any other duties as requested by the General Manager.
