Essential Duties & Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, you'll need to be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. These include:

  • Providing personal care to residents, including bathing, shaving, and positioning.
  • Answering call lights and bells promptly to determine and meet resident needs.
  • Collecting specimens, food and hydration input, and urine and bowel output, and recording appropriately.
  • Taking vital signs and obtaining and recording pertinent patient information.
  • Assisting with and/or feeding residents, providing between-meal nourishments, and encouraging fluids when indicated.
  • Assisting in progressive ambulation of residents by wheelchair, stretcher, and bed.
  • Administering enemas, douches, and documenting appropriately.
  • Applying ace bandages, elastic stockings, and sequential compression devices.
  • Observing isolation technique and giving direct care to residents in isolation.
  • Assisting in ostomy care and education.
  • Applying orthopedic appliances and/or assistive devices as ordered by physician.
