Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Dental Hygienist to join our team. As a Dental Hygienist, you will be responsible for cleaning and polishing teeth, instructing patients in good hygiene habits, and providing preventative dental instruction. You will work chairside as needed during examinations and treatments, and provide other clinical services as requested by the dentist.

Responsibilities

  1. Patient Care
  • Reviews patient's medical history and charts existing restorations, periodontal charting, and probing.
  • Maintains patient records and evaluates periodontal status.
X-Rays and Impressions
  • Exposes and develops x-ray film.
  • Makes impressions for study casts.
Dental Examinations
  • Performs intraoral and extraoral examinations.
  • Examines gums to identify signs of disease and feels lymph nodes under the patient's chin to detect signs indicating oral cancer.
Dental Procedures
  • Cleans teeth and beneath margins of gums using dental instruments.
  • Removes excess cement from coronal surfaces of teeth.
  • Removes sutures and dressings.
  • Places and removes rubber dams, matrices, and temporary restorations.
Dental Prophylaxis
  • Performs dental prophylaxis.
  • Applies fluorides and other cavity prevention agents.
  • Provides oral hygiene instructions.
Assisting the Dentist
  • Assists the dentist during exams and treatment planning.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. An Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  2. A minimum of three years' experience as a Dental Hygienist.
  3. Licensure by the State Dental Hygiene Board.
  4. CPR Certification.
  5. Administration of local anesthesia.
  6. Monitoring of nitrous oxide.
  7. Prosthetic Function Certification.
  8. Restorative Function Certification.
