Position Overview

The Financial Counselor plays a crucial role in evaluating insurance eligibility and benefits for patients receiving Inpatient, Observation, and Swing Bed services. This position is also responsible for coordinating outpatient appointments for specialized care such as wound management and IV therapy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct thorough reviews of insurance eligibility and benefits for various patient categories.
2. Schedule outpatient appointments efficiently to ensure timely care delivery.
3. Utilize patient estimator tools to diligently collect copays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket maximums.
4. Assist patients who are uninsured or underinsured in navigating coverage options and alternative resources, including support for Medicaid application processes through the Market Place Navigator.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in billing and/or follow-up roles within a healthcare setting is essential.

Essential Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Capacity to communicate complex information clearly.

Certifications: CRCS certification is preferred.
