Position Overview:

The Electric Power Systems - Systems Engineering division is seeking a motivated Linux Software Simulation Engineer with a strong background in complex software application development, maintenance, and support.


The Behavioral Simulation team, utilizing the EXpert Electric Power System simulator, plays a crucial role in all phases of Aerospace product development and certification, from initial requirements gathering to product validation and verification.


Work Arrangement:
This position is classified as Hybrid, allowing employees to work both onsite and remotely, with the onsite ratio determined in collaboration with leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Integrate product embedded code into the simulation framework.
  • Incorporate the simulator into a hardware-in-the-loop testing environment.
  • Provide support, maintenance, and enhancements for simulation tools, including drawing editors and scripting engine extensions.
  • Investigate and resolve performance issues within the simulator.
  • Address and rectify any incorrect behaviors in the simulator, such as crashes or incorrect outputs.
  • Collaborate with the team to estimate timelines for planned activities.
  • Qualify simulator components to facilitate formal product verification.
  • Create and update documentation as necessary.
  • Respond to ad hoc inquiries from simulator users to assess if remediation is needed.

Required Qualifications:
  • A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field, or 6 years of relevant experience in the absence of a degree.
  • Proficiency in C programming and debugging.
  • Must be a U.S. Person or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with C++ programming.
  • Experience in software engineering and application development within UNIX/Linux environments.
  • Knowledge of embedded flight software build processes and tools.
  • Understanding of Linux POSIX mechanisms for inter-process communication and threading.
  • Proficient with symbolic debugging tools such as gdb, ddd, or dbx.
  • Experience with scripting languages like TCL, Python, and Linux shell.
