Advocate Aurora Health is in search of a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for the Med Surg Level II role, located in Des Plaines, Illinois.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and operate chamber control systems, including hand valves and compressors, while assisting with troubleshooting and maintenance of support equipment.
  • Monitor patients utilizing vital sign devices and respiratory equipment throughout hyperbaric procedures.
  • Prepare and educate patients on hyperbaric procedures, ensuring understanding of safety protocols.
  • Conduct safety checks on equipment prior to procedures, modifying calculations as necessary for enhanced safety.
  • Assist with wound care tasks and perform non-invasive vascular testing as per physician orders.
  • Provide training and mentorship to staff, ensuring adherence to safety and operational guidelines.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of patient care appropriate to various age groups, assessing and interpreting data to meet individual needs.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) certification from the National Board of Diving & Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT).

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hyperbaric technician role preferred.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Possession of a qualifying pathway credential for obtaining CHT.
  • Advanced knowledge of hyperbaric procedures and equipment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks related to patient care and equipment maintenance.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with potential exposure to various hazards.
  • Must meet physical requirements for lifting, carrying, and operating equipment.
