Salary Range: $70,000 - $100,000 per year

About the Role:

The Postpartum Nurse Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality patient care and fostering a supportive environment for new mothers and their babies. This position requires strong clinical skills, effective communication, and a commitment to providing evidence-based care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care: Provide comprehensive nursing care to postpartum mothers and newborns, prioritizing patient safety and satisfaction.
  • Monitoring and Assessment: Conduct regular assessments, interpret electronic fetal monitoring and adult cardiac monitoring results, and provide timely interventions as needed.
  • Clinical Skills: Perform IV insertions, lab draws, heel sticks, venipuncture, and other essential clinical tasks with precision and accuracy.
  • Medication Administration: Safely administer medications, including high-risk medications such as Magnesium, Oxytocin, and Insulin, and manage newborn medication administration.
  • Newborn Care: Utilize specialized equipment, such as radiant warmers and bili-blankets/lights, to ensure optimal newborn care and comfort.
  • Patient Education: Provide clear, concise education to new mothers on maternal-newborn care, post-operative bladder training, and gynecological teaching as required.
  • Collaborative Care: Work closely with the healthcare team to ensure seamless care transitions and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Required Qualifications:
  1. At least 1 year of recent full-time equivalent nursing experience.
  2. Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  3. Active Registered Nurse License in the state where care is provided.
  4. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  5. Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification.
  6. Demonstrated ability to perform electronic fetal monitoring and IV insertion.
  7. Knowledge of high-risk medication administration (Magnesium, Oxytocin, Insulin).
  8. Ability to perform Urine Point of Care testing and capillary blood glucose testing.
  9. Proficiency with IStat and adult cardiac monitoring.
  10. Knowledge of newborn monitors, including pulse oximetry and cardiac monitoring.
  11. Ability to perform heel sticks and venipuncture on newborns.
  12. Knowledge of newborn medication administration, including IV administration and maintenance.
  13. Understanding of Bili-blankets, radiant warmers, and supporting maternal-newborn education.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of labor and delivery experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of postpartum experience.
  • At least 1 year of medical/surgical nursing experience.
Certification:

Basic Life Support and Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program certifications are required for this position. We also recognize the value of ongoing education and professional development, offering opportunities for continuing education and certification support.
