We are a dynamic logistics organization looking for a dedicated Tax Specialist to enhance our Tax department. Reports to: Tax Manager
Key Responsibilities- Identify and evaluate fundamental tax transactions, including income tax, sales tax, payroll tax, and other pertinent taxes in accordance with GAAP and applicable tax regulations.
- Assist in the reconciliation of tax-related accounts and statements on a regular basis.
- Manage tax payments for diverse tax responsibilities, including income tax, sales tax, and other regulatory taxes.
- Organize and preserve tax-related documentation and records within the department.
- Prepare and submit sales and use tax returns to state and local government entities.
- File business licenses, withholding taxes, independent contractor forms, and other necessary tax-related documents.
- Support annual business planning by providing tax-related insights for budgeting, interest calculations, and tax forecasts.
- Research tax laws and regulations to remain informed about any changes to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with the Tax Manager to implement tax-saving strategies and ensure adherence to tax laws and regulations.
- Assist in the month-end and year-end tax closing processes.
- Support during IRS and state audits.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline with a focus on taxation.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in tax accounting or a related field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including functions such as sum, if, sumif, count, vlookup, index, etc.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as SAP, QuickBooks, or similar systems.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and tax regulations.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- Proactive mindset and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
Work Environment: This role typically involves using standard office equipment, including a laptop and mobile phone. The employee is generally required to spend extended periods sitting, typing, and working at a computer. The ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds and transport items may be necessary. Compensation and BenefitsThe position is eligible for GLOVIS EA's comprehensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) Plan with matching contributions, and generous paid time off.
Salary Range: The estimated base salary for the Tax Specialist position is between $55,700 and $61,000. This range is provided in accordance with applicable state and local salary transparency laws and reflects a good faith estimate of what GLOVIS EA anticipates paying for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as specific skills, certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel.
