Overview

The Operations Manager is tasked with overseeing daily café activities while providing leadership and guidance to the team. This role ensures that all culinary practices, food preparations, and presentations align with the company’s standards and commitment to excellence. The manager is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment, exemplifying proper food safety protocols. Responsibilities include managing daily operations such as inventory control, food procurement, staff scheduling, and client interactions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develops and maintains a daily production schedule.

2. Ensures all service stations are adequately stocked before and during meal service.

3. Manages end-of-day financial transactions and drawer reconciliations.

4. Monitors kitchen staff adherence to recipes and portion control.

5. Maintains cleanliness and organization of kitchen, dish, and storage areas.

6. Places orders for food and supplies as needed.

7. Receives deliveries, verifying invoices and product freshness.

8. Trains staff according to company standards.

9. Sets a high standard for customer service and teamwork.

10. Actively participates as a member of the management team.

11. Adjusts staffing levels as necessary throughout shifts.

12. Oversees kitchen labor and food costs to meet budgetary goals.

13. Takes on additional tasks as requested by management or clients.

Qualifications and Experience

1. Culinary education or extensive experience in food production.

2. At least 2 years of experience in a leadership position within the food service sector.

3. Strong commitment to quality service and knowledge of food and beverage operations.

4. Familiarity with health and sanitation regulations at local, state, and federal levels.

5. Serv-Safe Certification is highly preferred.

6. Proficient in the use and maintenance of kitchen equipment, including stoves, refrigeration units, slicers, and dishwashers.

7. Experience with online food ordering systems, inventory management, profit and loss statements, union contracts, and client relations is advantageous.
