Sports League Referee

We are seeking a skilled Referee to join our team of officials at the Southeast Ventura County YMCA. As a Referee, you will be responsible for enforcing the rules of the assigned sport and ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.

This is a seasonal position that requires a commitment from January 10th to March 7th, with work scheduled on Friday evenings from 3:00pm-8:30pm. The selected candidate must be available to attend training sessions in December prior to the start of the season.

• Enforce the rules of the assigned sport and maintain a fair and impartial playing environment.
• Start and stop play, correct inappropriate behavior, and monitor conditions for safety throughout scheduled shifts.
• Inspect and require participants to properly wear or use safety equipment as needed.
• Communicate effectively with coaches, players, and other officials to resolve issues and maintain order.

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Able to stand for extended periods and run intermittently to closely observe and control play.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and see clearly to inspect playing areas.
• Knowledge of league rules and YMCA policies, as well as active listening and behavior management techniques.

$15-$20 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
