Security Officer

The Security Guard Tier 2 provides critical support to the Mount Sinai Health System by ensuring the safety and security of patients, employees, and visitors. This role involves a range of responsibilities, including access control, patrols, and emergency response.
Key Responsibilities- Provide security services to patients, employees, and visitors by staffing assigned posts, patrolling assigned areas, and investigating unusual occurrences.
- Respond to emergency situations, including security alerts, patient observations, and disruptive persons.
- Participate in access control by checking identification, screening visitors, and issuing visitor passes.
- Direct vehicle traffic to prevent congestion and ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure that ambulance bays are cleared of unauthorized vehicles.
- Offer assistance and direction to visitors and patients, and detain those individuals not authorized to be on the premises.
- Submit timely and complete reports on all pertinent security activity.
- Conduct security escorts upon request within the Medical Center, to parking lots, and to staff residences immediately adjacent to the center.
- Escorts Medical Center funds and valuables from various locations to the Security Office.
- Conduct building safety patrols to prevent and protect persons and property from theft and unlawful activity.
- Respond to fire alarms, hazards, disasters, and other emergencies to assist and maintain crowd control.
- Monitor access, alarm panels, and surveillance cameras to observe and respond to adverse activities.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 8 Hour pre-employment Security Course and 16 Hours on the Job Training Course.
- New York State Security Guard License.
- Adult & Pediatric CPR course.
- Security or military background preferred.
The Mount Sinai Health System provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $24.44 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need.
