Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Meeting with student-athletes either virtually or in person for tutor sessions
  • Assisting student-athletes by explaining course content and offering study strategies and tips for appropriate tutorial support
  • Completing a meeting report for each session within 24 hours of the session
  • Completing a bi-monthly timesheet and tutor hour record report for each pay period

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • An overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • A B+ or higher in courses to be tutored
  • A letter of reference from a professor or former employer
  • Knowledge and confidence in ability to help and understanding of course content
  • Excellent communication skills and a patient, caring attitude
  • Ability to provide study assistance and assess needs and capabilities
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and some weekends
  • A respect for and ability to work with student-athletes from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds
  • Compliance with NCAA, University Honor Code, and FERPA guidelines

Conditions of Employment

The following conditions apply:

  • Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate)
  • Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA
