About the Role

We are seeking a Civil/Construction Engineer Intern for Summer 2025 who is passionate about sustainability, driven by curiosity, and keen to grow, learn, develop, and thrive in our high-performance culture.

This opportunity will be a 10-week, paid internship beginning in May 2025. The internship will be based at our site in Watertown, MA, with opportunities to travel to various local sites throughout the program.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on learning: Dive into the operational procedures, production/maintenance activities, and product knowledge at our asphalt sites.
  • Data-driven insights: Collect and analyze data, identify process correlations, and contribute to the development of strategies for ongoing projects.
  • Project support: Assist in planning, designing, and executing asphalt and contracting projects.
  • Cost estimation: Assist in preparing cost estimates, budgets, and schedules for asphalt paving and contracting projects, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Material testing: Conduct testing and analysis of asphalt and other construction materials to ensure quality and durability, collaborating with lab technicians and engineers.
  • Team collaboration: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and contractors to coordinate project activities and address any on-site issues.
  • Safety protocols: Assist in the implementation and monitoring of safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with Holcim standards.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong academic performance with a solid understanding of engineering principles.
  • Geographic flexibility to work at various sites.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • High energy and a proactive approach to tackling new challenges.
  • A team player who can collaborate across different levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to spend significant time in the field, gaining hands-on experience and firsthand knowledge of our business operations.
