Accountable for the daily management of the Patient Service Center, which encompasses responsibilities such as initiating and concluding operations, enrolling patients, requesting laboratory tests, and the collection, handling, processing, and transportation of biological samples.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Executes accurate specimen collection (both blood and non-blood), ensuring proper patient preparation, labeling, handling, preservation, processing, transportation, and storage of samples; adheres to all laboratory procedural standards. Exhibits proficiency in assessing and selecting appropriate collection techniques tailored to various patient age groups.
  • Completes the handling and processing of specimens, including the centrifugation of all tubes and aliquoting as necessary.
  • Coordinates specimen transport in accordance with established protocols.
  • Collects, verifies, and processes patient registration information and test orders within the hospital information system/laboratory information system, demonstrating an understanding of various insurance plans.
  • Complies with compliance policies relevant to job responsibilities, including the presentation of the Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) of non-coverage prior to the provision of outpatient services.
  • Responsible for securing consent for treatment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in phlebotomy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a phlebotomy technician.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy training course from an accredited program.
  • Prior experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
