Anesthesiology Professor

This is a position for a general anesthesiologist primarily to provide clinical anesthesia care with teaching opportunities to residents and medical students. If appointed on the CHS track, duties will also include education and research components. The successful candidate will teach medical students, residents, and fellows in the operating room, and occasional didactic sessions. The department will not be able to support a request for a J-1 waiver. If you chose to pursue a waiver and apply for our position, neither the UW nor UWMF will reimburse you for your legal or waiver fees. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
Responsibilities- Provision of clinical anesthetic care to surgical patients (i.e. working in the operating room, plus evening and weekend call) in an anesthesia team model.
- Major teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students in the operating room, and didactic sessions. Primary emphasis of teaching will be in general anesthesia procedures and techniques, or in area of subspecialty training.
- Opportunity for participation in clinical research for interested candidates.
Completion of Anesthesiology residency program and certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Anesthesiology. For appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track. For appointment at Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor rank on CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CT Track.
EducationRequired Terminal Degree Medical Degree (MD or DO)
License/CertificationRequired MD - Physician - State Licensure Wisconsin medical license or eligible for Wisconsin licensure (MD or DO). Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology
Work TypeFull or Part Time: 75% - 100% It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
