Clinical Anesthesiologist Position

This is a position for a transplant anesthesiologist primarily to provide clinical anesthesia care with teaching opportunities to residents, fellows, and medical students. If appointed on the CHS track, duties will also include education, scholarly activity, and research components.
ResponsibilitiesFor appointment to the Clinician Teacher (CT) track:
- Provision of clinical anesthetic care to surgical patients (i.e. working in the operating room, plus evening and weekend call) in an anesthesia team model.
- Provision of clinical anesthetic care will be primarily, but not exclusively, for transplant anesthesia patients.
- Teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in the operating room, and occasional didactic sessions.
- Major teaching responsibilities for residents, fellows, and medical students in the operating room, and didactic sessions.
- Primary emphasis of teaching will be in the transplant anesthesia patient care area.
- Provision of clinical anesthetic care will be primarily, but not exclusively, for transplant surgical patients (i.e. working in the operating room, plus evening and weekend call) in an anesthesia team model or personally performed anesthesia.
- Opportunity for participation or to lead clinical research for interested and qualified candidates.

EducationRequired Terminal Degree MD or DO
QualificationsCompletion of Anesthesiology residency program and must be eligible or certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Subspecialty training in Transplant Anesthesiology, preferred. For appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track. For appointment at Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor rank on CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CT Track.
License/CertificationRequired MD - Physician - State Licensure Wisconsin MD or DO medical license or eligible for Wisconsin licensure.
Work TypeFull Time: 100% It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Additional InformationThis position will be a dual appointment with the UW Madison and UW Medical Foundation. Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles listed in this posting. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist. This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every two years.
