About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Internal Medicine physician to join our team as a Core Faculty member at MUSC Health - Lancaster Medical Center. As a foundational element of graduate medical education, you will play a crucial role in shaping the inaugural Internal Medicine Residency Program, anticipated to launch in July 2025.

As a Core Faculty member, you will report to the Residency Program Director and will directly impact the organization, implementation, and continued improvement of the new training program. You will foster the growth and development of residents in the practice-based learning environment, ensuring that graduates are prepared to deliver the highest quality of care to patients in the communities they serve.

Responsibilities
  • Split time between educational, administrative, and clinical care
  • Serve as a role model, mentor, and advisor to residents in the program
  • Participate in the selection, orientation, and evaluation of residents
  • Contribute to the development of program curriculum and evaluation tools
  • Promote internal medicine care and the residency program, practicing the full scope of ambulatory primary care medicine
  • Provide appropriate levels of resident supervision to ensure patient safety
  • Support the Program Director (PD) and Associate Program Director (APD) in the implementation of policies and procedures consistent with institutional and program requirements
  • Assist with the incorporation and application of ACGME Milestones into evaluation tools
  • Participate in program evaluation and clinical competency committees at the discretion of the PD
  • Prepare and deliver structured educational activities as requested by the APD or PD
  • Participate in resident scholarship with the goal of one scholarly project per year
  • Actively participate in faculty development initiatives

  • Compassion, professionalism, and dedication to lifelong learning

Candidates must be board certified in Internal Medicine and licensed to practice Internal Medicine in the state of South Carolina at the time of hire.
