Pediatric Pulmonary Function Technician Job Description

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a skilled Pediatric Pulmonary Function Technician to join our team. As a Pediatric PFT, you will work alongside passionate and dedicated caregivers, receive endless support and appreciation, and build a rewarding career with one of the most respected healthcare organizations in the world.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform pulmonary function testing according to the latest ATS/ERS standards.
  • Perform and analyze quality control data and perform advanced invasive or noninvasive protocols.
  • Share educational in-services to staff, advanced practice nurses and physician assistants.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Registered Pulmonary Function Technician (RPFT) credentialing from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Ohio Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) licensure.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Minimum of 1 year direct patient care experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 years of critical care patient experience.
  • Previous pulmonary function testing experience.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through AHA.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) certification.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to administer six minute walk tests at a pace of at least 3.0 mph (average walking speed), ability to move K cylinders onto dollies, ability to change gas cylinder regulators with a wrench and ability to lift boxes up to 25 pounds in weight.

Ability to perform pulmonary function tests for demonstration purposes and for the collection of biological control data for QC purposes.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
