Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacist to join our team at Value Apothecaries Inc. as a PRN Ambulatory Pharmacist. This is a unique opportunity to work in a retail pharmacy setting, providing excellent patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, prepare, and dispense medications, verifying prescribed medications according to professional standards, facility procedures, and state and federal legal requirements.
  • Perform medication reconciliation processes to ensure seamless continuum of care for patients upon discharge.
  • Provide excellent customer service and clinical care, ensuring a positive patient experience.
  • Consult with patients regarding individual medications or supplies prescribed, including dosage, frequency, specialized requirements, and possible drug interactions.
  • Interact closely with individual patients to answer questions and concerns regarding their medication therapy.
  • Review and evaluate patient plans of care for therapeutic appropriateness.
  • Participate in achieving business goals and metrics for the ambulatory pharmacy, including assisting in marketing events and promotions.
  • Assist in the fiscal management of the ambulatory pharmacy to optimize profits and control expenses.
  • Manage ambulatory pharmacy technicians, including hiring, training, terminating, and performance management.
  • Monitor the overall performance of ambulatory pharmacy staff members to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies.
  • Assist in maintaining and executing established procedures concerning quality improvement, quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and record keeping.
  • Submit, review, and handle adjudicated prescription claims to ensure appropriateness of reimbursement, co-pay, and related financials.
  • Establish, supervise, and maintain pricing tables, special tier pricing, and related pricing structures.
  • Make recommendations to managers regarding changes to improve operating procedures and patient care.
  • Perform prescription verification and provide technical guidance to pharmacy technicians.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to patient inquiries, requests, and issues, following through on closing any outstanding patient concerns.
  • Provide consultation on pharmacy and therapeutic matters to various levels of organizational personnel.
  • Assist and review daily reporting and scheduling of hours worked for pharmacy technicians, adjusting scheduling as appropriate to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Supervise activities relative to patient profiles and contacts, ensuring they are updated as needed for insurance verification and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and in-service training for pharmacy technicians.
  • Work collaboratively with organizational personnel on quality, satisfaction, service excellence, clinical care, and other areas as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree or Pharm D degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy or a Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • Current, unrestricted pharmacist license through the appropriate state board of pharmacy.
  • Broad training and/or experience in business administration, sales, marketing, information technology, and retail/ambulatory pharmacy.
  • Normally requires zero (1) to three (3) years of directly related and progressively responsible retail/ambulatory care pharmacy experience.
