The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in the Operating Rooms of the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, working as an integral member of a team of care providers. This position requires a high level of technical skill, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in preparing patients for surgery, ensuring a safe and efficient operating room environment
- Perform technical skills related to intra-operative patient care, including scrubbing and assisting with surgical procedures
- Provide emergency care measures as needed and assist in meeting patients' emotional needs
- Follow universal precautions, safe handling guidelines, and infection control standards to maintain a clean and organized perioperative unit
- Collaborate with the surgical team to promote a positive attitude and maintain patient confidentiality
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Completion of a formal Surgical Technology Training Program or equivalent
- Previous experience in the Operating Room as a Surgical Technologist is preferred
