The Nurse Residency Unit (NRU) is an essential component of the Med/Surg Nurse Residency Program at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital. This unit supports seven medical/surgical departments by welcoming three cohorts of newly graduated nurses each year.
Newly graduated nurses will begin their orientation on this specialized unit, guided by experienced preceptors, ensuring they acquire a robust clinical foundation before transitioning to their designated home units.
The NRU fosters a secure learning atmosphere aimed at cultivating competent and highly skilled nursing professionals. Our dedicated preceptors, leadership team, and Nurse Residency Coordinator offer exceptional support to nurse residents throughout their orientation and integration into practice.
Located in the advanced Main Tower, NRU nurses deliver high-quality nursing care to acute care patients by employing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
NRU nurses are responsible for upholding practice standards and coordinating patient care activities among all assigned staff to ensure the delivery of quality nursing services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:The staff nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to patients across the lifespan, utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
They function within the framework of the organization's policies and procedures, showcasing professional growth and accountability.The staff nurse is accountable for maintaining practice standards and coordinating patient care activities among all assigned staff to ensure the provision of quality nursing services.
QUALIFICATIONS:MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
New graduates of a nursing program are eligible.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Georgia or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. BLS certification is mandatory.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced certification in a specialty area, if applicable. A Bachelor's degree is preferred. Nursing experience in a hospital setting is advantageous.
