Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fleet Mechanic to join our team at the Eugene School District. As a Fleet Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on our fleet of vehicles, including buses, vans, and heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake replacements.
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues with diesel engines and other heavy equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain fleet vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend the life of our fleet vehicles.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff to ensure that all fleet vehicles are properly maintained and repaired.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in automotive repair or a related field preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in automotive repair or a related field, with a focus on diesel engines and heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols for working with heavy equipment and diesel engines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve maintenance goals.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual proficiency and/or multicultural experience.
  • Experience working with computerized diagnostic equipment.
  • Knowledge of shop and operations manuals, schematic diagrams, and work specifications.
