POSITION OVERVIEW
The Operating Room Surgical Technologist plays a crucial role within the surgical team, providing essential support in the operating room environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Core Functions: The Surgical Technologist is expected to demonstrate flexibility in their duties and collaborate effectively with the surgical team.
  2. Cross-Training: Willingness to learn and assist in various surgical specialties is essential.
  3. Supply Management: Maintain awareness of equipment and supply needs, ensuring all necessary items are available for procedures.
  4. Preference Card Updates: Regularly update preference cards to reflect the supplies and equipment required for specific procedures.
  5. Training Role: Act as the primary trainer for assigned specialties, sharing knowledge and skills with team members.
  6. Cost Management: Collaborate with management to identify opportunities for reducing supply expenses within the specialty service.

REPORTING STRUCTURE
Refer to the organizational chart for reporting relationships.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program is required.

Clinical experience as a Surgical Technician is necessary, with the ability to function across all surgical specialties. Candidates must meet the qualifications for Surgical Tech I and II positions.

Valid and active surgical tech certification or LPN licensure in the relevant state is mandatory, along with current CPR certification.
