Position Overview:
The Automation Controls Specialist plays a vital role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced automated systems. This position requires expertise in programming and deploying control systems, adhering to integration best practices, delivering technical assistance, and performing troubleshooting tasks. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop user-friendly Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) to enhance machine comprehension, control, and diagnostics.

- Maintain a client-centric focus, committed to delivering exceptional experiences for both internal and external stakeholders.

- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by acquiring new skills and staying abreast of technological innovations.

- Engage in design reviews, control logic assessments, and programming evaluations, contributing to Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).

- Conduct testing and integration of hardware and software components, including robotics, analog devices, motion controllers, sensors, and vision systems across various projects.

- Ensure that systems are integrated following best practices and defined standard operating procedures, optimizing them according to project requirements.

- Address and resolve support escalations and site issues, which may involve troubleshooting electrical and mechanical challenges.

- Participate in on-site commissioning activities, including system testing and debugging.

- Assist in training customer personnel on the operation of integrated systems, providing on-site support during the initial system launch.

- Exhibit strong situational awareness and sound decision-making capabilities.

- Collaborate with clients to ensure that workflow requirements are thoroughly understood and documented.

Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Mechatronics, Controls/Automation, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

- 1-3 years of experience in automation and controls development and implementation; a combination of education and experience will be considered.

- Proficiency with PLCs (Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Bosch), SCADA (Aveva, Ignition, Rockwell), HMIs (Rockwell, Siemens), VFDs, and motion control systems.

- Competence in Microsoft Windows and applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook); Linux experience is a plus.

- Ability to work collaboratively within a team or independently.

- Familiarity with agile development methodologies is advantageous.

- Knowledge of technical methods, principles, and practices related to automation and safety.

- Familiarity with programming languages such as C++, Python, or Java is beneficial.

- Understanding of control measures and electrical safety designs based on hazard analysis.

- Experience with robotic applications from major brands (Fanuc, KUKA, Kawasaki) and their programming is a plus.

- Capability to engage with customers, project managers, designers, and various trades throughout all phases of a product lifecycle.
